Cine El Rey, Leyenda Production Co. and the San Juan Diego Regional Catholic High School Board of Trustees present "Our Lady of Guadalupe: A Celebration," a festival in honor of the Virgin Mary at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007, at Cine El Rey, 311 S. 17th Street in McAllen, Texas.
The event features a live dance and dramatic performance by a group of young actors from Our Lady of Sorrows School in McAllen and St. Joseph Catholic School in Edinburg. The youth troupe will join ethnic dancer Becky Bormann In an interpretive dance and recite a meditation on the Virgin Mother.
The show will promote regional pride and faith through a variety of Latin-themed musical and theatrical performances and a religious art exhibit. Admission is $10.
Wednesday's concert will showcase among other acts:
*Brandy Bee Serrata, a protégé of Laura Canales and the daughter of tejano legend Jessy Serrata
*The GoLightly Project, a local chart-topping hip-hop/R&B duo, exploring their Latin influences
*Armo Herbertz, featuring songs written in the Nahuatl language
*Alyssa Joy Gonzalez, a Rio Grande Valley vocal protégé in middle school
