  • "we should all obey the civil defense worker" just like tony did. I think the cilvil defense worker would be a human match stick and would be in no position or ability to help poor little tony after he ducked and covered. He would probably be a human match stick too. if the blast doesn't kill you the radiation probably would have,

  • @makingitsnowy It's sad how many people don't accept this. Duck and Cover is not meant to teach what to do about radiation. Only about the blast. A very large segment of the population will not be in range of the fireball. But many will be in range of the winds the blast will create. Duck & Cover will save a great number of lives. In the short term anyway. But then, schoolchildren shouldn't need to worry about fallout. That's their parent's job.

  • Wow...we were pretty stupid back in the 50's, weren't we?

  • So the equivalent of a nuke is a monkey holding a stick with dynamite tied to the end of it... seems legit!

  • The farmer does it best (8:12)

  • *Lights match to light a cigarette while being in a dark room*

    *Everyone ducks and covers*

  • This was the death song of the 1950's o_o

  • I think I saw Hitler.

  • @makingitsnowy

All that cash wasted on bomb-shelters, when all that was needed was a flimsy school-desk.

In Britain, under the Fuhrer Thatcher, we were taught that a simple door would protect us from massive thermo-nuclear devices, provided we hid under the stairs.

    lol

  • Duck and cover makes perfect sense. If your far enough away to see the flash and have time too react your clearly not in the 150000 degree fire ball and jumping under a desk could very well save you life when the shock wave knocks down the walls of the building, just like if there was an earth quake.
