  • Folks never mind the bigotry here - I love Irish sean nos music and this is simply an absolute jem of a song

  • "An Raibh Tú ag an gCairraig" is a very old traditional tune, dating from the days of the English Protestant oppression of Irish Catholics; "the Rock" (an gCairraig) is a "Mass Rock" where native Irish gathered to celebrate Mass under threat of prison or death at the hands of the English.

Some lazy rich cunts, "sky37blue" for example, like to pretend that their ancestors never suffered for their faith, and that all the trouble in the world today is the fault of Western civilization.

  • Ummm..... This has absolutely nothing to do with 9-11. And just because the people who did it were Muslim, it doesnt mean all Muslims are bad. There are terrible people who do unthinkalbe things who just happen to be Christian. That doesnt make all Christians bad either. There will always be people who do bad things. There isnt one religion that has no followers whatsoever who do bad things. And even though I dont believe in either of the religions, I still respect them.

  • This is wonderful. Who sings it?

  • @CosantoirArmach watch your mouth, jerk

  • Wonderful video and song; thank you for posting. Shame that some just can't enjoy beauty for its own sake, but feel such a compulsion to interject their political or religious views. Life's too short, people; enjoy the loveliness while you can and get the mud out of your eyes.

  • Dia go deo leis na seanlaethanta!

  • i believe in all paths to god.

  • I love this my mammy is from near Carrick an gCarraig.

I believewhat these messianic religions tend to forget is that before them there was no messiah, and that paganism in it's purest form (without murder and mayhem) still survives in western Europe. Christianity in Ireland draws on a lot of pagan symbolism whether it likes it or not,. We all have a road to take, don't be drawn away from it by bitterness.

  • It is the Catholic Church that guarantees the Bible and not vice versa. A lot of people who know a lot about the Bible know next to nothing about Church History. Learn Both. Siochan agus Gairdeas go deo.
