UNA members voted to accept a new Collective Agreement that includes a 6% salary increase over three years, prevents overall nursing reduction in nursing hours, increases regular nursing hours and provides commitment to hire†new grads.
In the next round, 1999 - 2001 the 8th step increased to $26.52. Since then, we have added a 9th step as well as additional percentage for nurses with 20 years of experience or higher. So the new top rate by the end of this agreement will be $45.93 per hour.
CrankyCrone - I am not sure what you mean. In the 1994/1996 agreement, UNA members accepted a 5% rollback. The highest rate - nurse at step 8 - saw her salary go from $22.76 to $22.48 per hour)
In the next round of negotiations, the 1996/1999 agreement, we more than got that back and a nurse at step 8 earned $24.11 per hour.
Hmmm...Letters of Understanding....why does this sound familiar? I STILL want my 5% back! Whatever happened to THAT "Letter of Understanding"?!! We'll see how this works out this time, but I can't believe we fell for it yet again! facepalm!
