Students in Hong Kong learn to sing this song in Japanese in primary school.

I'm sorry, but there are tones in this piece which are between our notes. So it's not really possible to play this piece on the piano.

Besides it's not a song which you would play on a piano if you haven't just begun to learn playing...

It fills the heart with longing, and sadness of times past, hope for the future... magical and mysterious, I love it :)

this is where chinese and japanese music differs

japanese = mysterious, enigmatic, "zen"
chinese = joyful, expressive, energetic

listen to "love song from kang ding" for comparison.

i'm not saying the one is better than the other.

just my two cents anyway. :)

This sounds very much like "Aase's Death" by Edvard Grieg.

Sakura, sakura, gently swaying in the air, smell the fragrance everywhere, petals soft and colors bright, floating clouds that seem to say"come and see, come and see, come and see the cherry blooms"

This is rather beautiful, if you ask me.
