Been looking for this song! Maybe under the wrong name. Hate to see them trucking out those fabulous outfits for a few whitebread tourists other than at the traditional times, but what the heck-if you spend a fortune on looking good, why not show it off?!

my grandfather (great) wash cherokee so it is an honor for us to take part in something that is part of us. Thank you I loved the photos though the song is gone. none the less I watched the whole thing. It made me so home sick. I wish life was good enough for me to return. One day I pray, I will return New Orleans, I'm coming home.

most new orleanians have grandmothers and great-grandmothers who are full-blooded Indians. that's a fact. so it's their heritage too. see if u can find a new orleanian who doesn't

I'm recently back from JZ FEST 2007 where I saw the Seminole Warriors -- I had never before known of the Mardi Gras Indians. THANKS for opening more eyes to this gorgeous group of people. May they continue and expand their legacy of human harmony & justice and HAVIN' A GOOD TIME!

That was very cool. Love the song. Love the culture. Loved living there. :)
It should be mentioned that many of the African-Americans in New Orleans are ethnically mixed with Native Americans as well. Today, many people can recall their grand parents and great-grandparents being full-blooded Native Americans.
