Following the unveiling of the Senate health care reform bill, Senator Dick Durbin issued a challenge to Republicans. "We know they have been working on concepts...Now is their chance. Come forward. Post your bill on health care reform. Let Americans compare the two," said Durbin. The Democrats' bill, The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, reduces the deficit by $130 billion over the next decade, protects consumers and will provide quality, affordable health care to all Americans. Senate Republicans have criticized the legislation, but they have not introduced comprehensive health insurance reform legislation of their own. Instead, they have only a strategy to try and protect special interests and delay reform. "The reality is that if we follow their approach of do nothing and say no, health care costs will continue to accelerate," said Senator Jack Reed.
