This video shows how you can combine Dasher, a clever text entry program, with RoboRealm, a clever machine vision program to write a sentence using a Red Ball and a WebCam. You do this without touching the PC! This could be used on a Wii, XBox or PS3 to control a browser.

  • It was very interesting to see the streaming pulling a partial word, such as thin......and the

probable options for completing the word.......was a letter "g" or a letter "k".........

meaning the word could be either "thing OR think".............

    Fantastic...........

A person with visual tracking issues could use the device a tad slower, so they would have time to "see" their options.

  • I get ~30 WPM with Dasher.

There is a free CameraMouse program available that "latches on" to a facial feature on your WebCam and follows it as you move your head around.

The second option is the SmartNav mouse. This device essentially does the same thing that you're doing here, but it uses a high-resolution infrared camera that's reflected by special dots that you can put on almost any object. You can control Dasher with your any kind of motion.

  • Very nice!

  • Good stuff but you could have atleast done some training with dasher before hand.
