Two insane lightning displays captured on the same chase day! The video is in reverse order from how it was initially filmed. June 27th, 1999 ended for us in the town of Ogallala, NE after getting pounded by golf ball hail (Jim Leonard who was only a mile or so from us was pummeled with Softball hail which in turn destroyed his vehicle!). The lightning display that followed this storm was incredible. And to top things off, the almost full moon was visible just to the right of the storm.

After sunset we drove to the town of Sterling, CO where we set up for the night, and once again were treated to one of the most insane lightning displays I have ever seen. I only wish my video gear was more up to date at the time of filming this. But, I could only afford my High 8 camera back then. Regardless, I hope you enjoy the video!

And by all means, please rate and subscribe to my channel if you'd like!

  • Great shots. Is a storms intensity rated by how much lightning it produces? Coll video

  • @NiteOwl1224 Hi and thanks for watching! It's one of the factors I think but overall the hail, rains, winds, lightning and of course..any tornadoes are all factored into how strong a storm is. A storm that is producing a lot of lightning is definitely an indicator of the storms strength. Usually when the lightning ramps up, it's a sign that a storm is strengthening!

  • geeeezzz!! thats one charged up storm! talk about power. good job!!

  • @TheSerenityhuck Thanks! This was definitely a storm to remember for sure. A few of my good chaser friends had their vehicles trashed in hail by this storm too! Thanks for watching

  • Is that the moon coming up beside the thunderhead or a lamppost?

  • @starcatcher3333 That was the moon, perfect positioning for this storm! Thanks for watching!
