Video demo of a handful of VFE guitar pedals... ON BASS! I'm using the VFE White Stallion optical compressor, Pale Horse tube screamer overdrive, Alpha Dog pro co rat distorsion, followed by a custom pedal - the Zombee, a VFE Bumblebee and Blueprint - slow gear clone and analog delay with modulation, all into a MXR Bass DI+. I'm using my new Ibanez SR500 on this track, flat EQ, both pickups. I'm recording through a MAudio JamLab USB audio interface, with Ampeg SVX amplifier emulation (all settings flat).
You're getting some massive stoner/doom tones fromt his setup, dude. I particularly love the tone you got with the M80, White Stallion, Alpha Dog and Pale Horse combined. Looks like I'll need to invest in a good overdrive pedal now :P

@Raro404 That's we're I'm actually heading with my setup. White Stallion (for added clarity) -> Pale Horse (my weapon of choice) -> Alpha Dog (for taking it to 11) -> Zombee -> M80 (color on)

@zanscath Awesome! Thanks for the info. I have an MXR M80 too but its linked with a Boss GEB-7 graphic EQ pedal and a EHX Bass Big Muff. Not exactly getting that stoner doom crunch you seem to have nailed in the video. The fuzz pedal does a good job of adding a bit of grit to the MXR's distortion channel but it doesn't quite nail the tone right. Based on what I've got so far, what would you recommend I invest in next?

@Raro404 The GEB-7 is a great pedal, but I found I had a hard time trying to get a good sound out of the EHX Bass Big Muff. It lacks mids, and the M80 (on color mode) sucks the mids out even more (it's normal). That's why I sold mine and went for distortion and overdrive instead. The Pale Horse is a really nice Tubescreamer clone, very dynamic and that is always good to have around. If you got the cash, you could try out the bass tube screamer from Ibanez. I tried it and liked it a lot.

@Raro404 Also, I found that I liked the boss ODB-3 more than the EHX Bass Big Muff. You can dial in a very similar sound to the Big Muff, but with much more versatility, due to eq and blend settings. Stay away from SVT emulating pedals like the Sansamps. I think the color setting on the M80 does exactly what they do. The El Grande is a little better than the Big Muff, but I'd still go with overdrive and keep the muff.
