    It's actually based on the Harvey Andrews song. I had a nice explanation set up, but it got deleted. When I'm at my computer I'll post. :) (On my phone now.)

    You're thinking of Harvey Andrews song "Hey, Sandy".  Easy to mix up since they have the exact same title.

    This song was actually written about Sandra Scheuer, who was killed in the Kent State shootings in 1970.
