  • Your not far wrong Mick - one of the reasons for setting the show in the 1950s was to cut down on costume costs, Princess Ida doesn't exactly bring in the crowds...

  • I am not going to criticize the costumes. As a former chorusmaster for an Opera Company now gone bankrupt I am well aware of the terrible expense which must be incurred for things like costumes and sets. And Medieval period costumes for Ida might be really expensive (just the armor for the brothers would cost). They do a great job with what they have. The singing is great - chorus is outstanding - principals are excellent. I love Hildebrand on the bike. So - Bravo!

  • We did that for Patience a few years previously.

  • Why not set it in the sixties and dress the girl graduates as hippies.

  • i'm hildebrand next week for Debut Youth Theatre

  • Ida has a fantastic voice!

I do think it's a shame the male chorus lack costumes though.

  • could they not afford costumes for everyone?
