A powerful song by former Bay City Rollers guitarist Eric Faulkner, recorded at the Black Country Museum Chainmakers' Festival on 13th September 2008. This is his tribute to the Miami Showband, three members of whom were brutally gunned down in an ambush. They were non-sectarian, with members from both Irish communities, and had met the Bay City Rollers on tour. The lead singer, Fran O'Toole, who was only 19, was a Bay City Rollers fan. He was shot 22 times in the face.

  • One of the most touching songs I've ever heard--made me cry..another great job from you Eric!

  • Fran o' Toole... I met Fran o' Toole when i was a kid.... He lived down the road from me in Bray, Co Wicklow.

I remember the night he was murdered... his Mother crying her eyes out in my Mother's arms.

R.I.P. Fran O’Toole, Brian McCoy and Anthony Geraghty.

P.S. Nice tribute from the roller.

  • Oh God this song made me cry. I had never heard of these young men. There is no excuse for what happened to them. Beautiful haunting song, thank you Eric.

  • Christing fuck, he's IMMENSE.

  • Very tragic story. :( Sitting here myself with my boyfriend who plays guitar in a band himself. We're really feeling the pain. Rest in Peace band members of Miami Showband. God Bless Eric Faulkner for sharing this.

  • Eric is not only an excellent writer and performer, he also shows great courage and sensitivity in writing this lovely song!
