Selections of Xuan paper for Chinese calligraphy and painting depend on many factors. Xuan paper has smooth and rough sides and they can be used for different purposes and effects...

長 long [chang2]
臣 official [chen2]
任 appoint [ren4]
得 get [de2]

German:
長 lang
臣 offiziell

  • Thank you for the insight! I did not knew that one side of the paper is more rough than the other.

what do the numbers behind the chinese sound mean? [chang2] is that this line above the character?

    長 lang

    臣 offiziell

    任 ernennen

    得 bekommen

    5 shuriken

  • They are Pinyin tones (or intonations).

    cháng

    chén

    rèn

    de

  • Nice calligraphy art and music!!! What's your favorite brand for that caligraphy style?

  • I don't have a farovite brand for a particular style - they depend. They say the best brand Xuan paper is Red Star. It's really excellent.
