So you think you know everything about the Romans? They gave us sophisticated road systems, chariots and the modern-day calendar. And of course they had to contend with barbarian hordes who continually threatened the peace, safety and prosperity of their Empire. Didn't they?
Terry Jones takes a completely fresh approach to Roman history. Not only does it offer us the chance to see the Romans from a non-Roman perspective, it also reveals that most of the people written off by the Romans as uncivilized, savage and barbaric were in fact organized, motivated and intelligent groups of people, with no intentions of overthrowing Rome and plundering its Empire. This is the true story of Roman history as seen by the Persians.

  • if the Romans had cooperated with the Persians instead of fighting, they would both be able to control and have power together. and so the Arabs would never come to power and ruined everything a few decades later. an uncivilized nation takes over as two civilized nation at war and take out one another. WHAT A SHAME

  • Thank you for putting this series on. I found it very interesting.

  • @kiafar And how do you know that?? So far Iraq and Afganistan have proved otherwise...

  • @pattonnn666 You can't fight the power of Allah, in the end anyone against Islam will fall.

Due to the delocalization of the Parthian empire, it never hurt the empire to a significant degree. The Parthian armies would simply come back and reconquer the lost land. Because of the constant conflicts between the two empires, the border would always be waving back and forth.

  • why didn't he mention that rome actually took over a lot of parthian land? I really liked this guy's doc on the crusades, but now I'm wondering if that doc is too biased like this one. Sucks

  • @pattonnn666 actually they cooperated for a while when the Arab threat was at greatest, but it was already too late and they both lost. The romans or the persians alone could have defeated the arabs, but the problem was that they lost so much money fighting eachother...

  • @pattonnn666 well said
