Jelena Radan has so far released the albums "Jelena," "Nije Kraj," and
"Moja Potraga za Fadom." A new album, entitled "Novi Dan," is soon to
be released under the Scardona label. The album "Nije Kraj" has had two
Porin nominations (for the academy award).
Jelena's musical journey and exploration has started in her teens, in a number of bands, playing in clubs across Zagreb. She gave her solo career a shot with one of the main roles in the "Sarajevski Krug" musical, with which, together with another forty or so colleagues, she performed about ten times in the concert hall "Lisinski," all the theatres across Croatia, in "Theater an der Wien" in Vienna, Austria, as well as in Scotland, Germany and America.
She sets some simple rules in her work: treating music with dignity, and performing and making music that wrings out her own emotions.
She has participated in the International Festival of the French Chanson in Split, collaborated with the group Parni Valjak, taking part in the Vlatko Stefanovski and
Miroslav Tadic tour, performed with Matija Dedic, the Meritas group, Marijan Brkic and others. She greatly respects and appreciates musicians, authors, music arrangers and producers she works with, whose talents and know-how help her present herself in her very own manner.

Jelena Radan
At the end of the summer of 2005, she started a fado music tour entitled "Moja Potraga za Fadom" ("My Search for Fado"), in order to present her latest breaking
of new grounds in music. It is a musical story which has outgrown her intimate
world of living music and listening to it, which brought her to love fado music, and has grown into singing a story to the audience, a story impregnated with the state and the feeling of "the saudade," the yearning and the pain. The concerts in the famous cellars of the Emperor Diocletian's palace in Split, in the cathedral in the town of Trogir, in the theatres of Sibenik, Zadar, Rovinj, on the cult stage of "Tvornica" in Zagreb, many cultural centres and stages, as well as all those that have yet to be performed, are a great confirmation for her that the audience wants and truly enjoys this wonderful music.
"Fado has given me truly great moments in music. It has enriched my voice and my attitude towards music. Fado touches my emotions and that is why I sing it. There is no other reason."

  • Very funny accent. She has to spend time in Portugal, to learn how to say some words, but in general, great voice, and she's doing her job: showing the fado to Croatia.

  • she`s not portuguese????? amazing BEAUTIFUL

  • I like this. I'm Portuguese and have been to Croatia. Found the people there very friendly.

  • I'm Portuguese and I love fado. Any Portuguese that critiques her for whatever pronunciation mistakes that she might make is nothing but an asshole... pure and simple. We Portuguese should be proud that she's interpreting this song so well and with such depth of feeling.

  • What stupid comments I see here... from Portuguese people (I'M PORTUGUESE).

Why call her 'bitch' or make fun of her... Of course no one can sing FADO like a Portuguese singer, with all his soul and feeling... But let the Portuguese language and PORTUGAL spread his wings all over the world.

We have a lot that the world don't know... beautiful things.. :)

  • @kriszstina Slabo i u Hrvatskoj nastupa-šteta!

  • Amazing!!!

  • @LiradeTerpsichore

You can't defend music. Music is here to be interpreted. She is not Portuguese and she is not trying to be. What she is doing by interpreting "Meu Fado Meu", is paying a compliment to the world music heritage that Fado belongs to.

  • I don't speak potuguese..but I think she has a great voice..Jelena najbolja si :)

  • Look! Mariza from Coatia! But she has got to learn portuguese... I'm from Portugal and it would hard for me to understand her. I know the lyrics, that's how I understand her. Examples: Mourria=Mouraria; Umado=Amado. Still, this is the best fado I have ever heard from a foreign citizen.
