This is a tutorial on how to make a froufy and flirty traditional (sewn), romantic bell-shaped tutu that ties with a satin ribbon sash on the back, side, or front.

For intermediate sewers, die hard feminine fashionistas, ballerinas, and ballerina wannabes.

  • @UtahGmaw99 I have used one, but I tend to like to do things the old fashioned way and have complete control over the amount of gather, etc. But I found this video that shows you how to use a ruffler foot (a mesmerizing contraption) to make gathers or pleats (pleats would just be on a lower setting):

Or, if you want to use just a normal gathering foot, this video is rather excellent:

    Good luck!!

  • Have you ever used a gathering foot? It also does pleats. If so how did it work?

My granddaughter wants a tutu for her dance class. Thanks.

  • @mysatisfaction3 Thanks! I <3 Crystal Castles (Alice and her voice and the way she dances with a broken foot on tour, haha)

  • nice music choice! i love the tutu as well ;)
