For nearly 20 years Dick Emery remained a comic star on BBC TV. Starting in 1962 audiences were wowed by his talent for producing many odd comic 'characters'. He brought them to life in an amusing way, one such character uttered "Oh you are awful but I like you!" which became Dick's trademark. • Brilliant stuff, this really takes me back. We were so spoilt for comedy in this era Dick Emery, The Two Ronnies, Morecambe and Wise, Benny Hill etc. Look at the rubbish we have got now? Harry and Paul, Miller and Armstrong etc - I rest my case!

  • classic

It simply is classic telly! - which the BBC were famous for. It's a shame the comedians of today have not taken several 'leaves' from the Dick Emery training Academy.

    Thank You for your comments.

  • Wasn't Dick Emery wonderful?

I love the way that, as the camera moves at 2:08, you can see half the town standing and watching the filming.

And the 1970s Ealing streets are a bonus. (For fans of late 1980s Ealing vox pops, watch Fry and Laurie)
