  • i learned to cut with the mesuring tape on the first day on the job. it took me a few try's but i nailed it

  • @rhblakeman i use the chalk line as well.is easy u don't need another person

  • Except the tape/combo square method only works for parallel cuts - angled cuts you need a chalkline or really long straightedge and make a pencil mark (for most of us, a few can hold a straightedge and cut with knife on those). Tape and knife is fine for paper covered long edge, best to use 4 ft T square on the long edge - some of the drywall boards have fiberglass impregnated and it plays heck with thskin on your finger (yeah maybe I'm a wuss but I hate stuff in my skin)
