"Daddy Sang Bass" was written by the guy who wrote "Blue Suede Shoes", arguably the greatest rock and roll song ever written, Carl Perkins. Carl Perkins also wrote "The Ballad of Boot Hill" for Johnny Cash in 1959. Ozzie Osborne and Jimi Hendrix have also recorded Carl Perkins. The Beatles have recorded virtually every song he recorded on Sun Records in the 1950s. From Elvis to Johnny Cash to Jimi Hendrix. "Daddy Sang Bass" was a masterpiece. It was #1 for 6 weeks on the Billboard country chart.

yes, Helen Reddy's quip considering god as a female was wonderful. I recall it was daring and some dogmatics thought impertinent. But I thought "good on ya, mate!"
