my boxer, male, 1 1/2 yrs old, has huge SA. advice. please. i even got another boxer to keep him company, female, 2 yrs old, has no issues at all...to keep him company and at first it helped but then he got back to his old self. im in the military so im home for a few days, gone for a few more and it repeats. the second my pups go in the crate, the male starts breathing heavy, saliva dripping, crying, etc. the female looks at him like "dude, chill". help plz
@girlofgodscountry Wait... So, my dog, an SSA (ooo) dog, should not be in a crate because it creates more problems? I cannot leave the dog out lol...She will chew the doorknob (dumb smart dog she is) and broke some teeth because of that....deficates, urinates, destroys molding and doors and carpet lol.
@ldoubleh I agree that crating can be done in a very humane and healthy way....however, as a trainer and behavior consultant, I don't usually advise putting SA dogs in crates. It can heighten the anxiety and lead to bigger problems. That being said, from this video alone, I think this dog COULD have SA, but likely is just concerned about "Daddy" leaving - not in a PANIC that "Daddy" is leaving.
My dog just stares at me through the window whenever I leave - then gets destructive - its only been going on for a month and I see the vet tomorrow to talk about getting my dog on meds. He's a momma's boy and 'dad' is stationed halfway across the world.
