  • This is a Cuckoo wasp (note sure which type) waiting on the outside face of our 'bee booth' (which actually houses bees and wasps / see channel comments) for its chance to sneak into the nest of the wasp storing caterpillars (see related video). In the sunlight it's a brilliant blue metallic colour. From Wikipedia: Commonly known as cuckoo wasps, the Hymenopteran family Chrysididae is a very large cosmopolitan group (over 3000 described species)...
