I dno't get it. If the Shadows had the potential to kick the Vorlons ass. Why didn't they update their technology?

@RockyH2 It was a fusion bomb.

I can see the Vorlons and Shadows having a conversation between each other and the other First Ones while their moving beyond the Rim.
Walkers: "You owe us Vorlons for saving your sorry asses from the Shadows in the last Great War."
Vorlons: "Don't start."
Shadows: "We're right here you know, assholes."
Vorlons: "What was that?!"
Shadows: "Nothing."
-
"Morning, gentlemen. This is your wake-up call."
BAD. ASS.

@notablegoat Not as expensive as you might think. The entire series was produced on a relatively low budget.

I never knew that was actually a point of discussion. I always thought that the vessel was destroyed as well.
The Shadows are very powerful, but I doubt even they can survive a nuke.

Fortunately for el kapitan the volons and shadows weren't considering of kicking his human butt back to earth together with his other buddies
The other First Ones and their ships as they appear beginning 1:30: Walker Traveler (most technologically advanced, second oldest race with a birthrate), Mindriders (powerful, spiritual telepathic/telekinetics), Triad Triumviron (three energy beings of enormous power, nearly as old as Lorien), Kirishiac Lordship (youngest First Ones, seven meters tall and previously warlike), Torvalus Dark Knife (naturally immortal cilia-covered psychics obsessed with wagering on outcomes).
