Flash and me at South Staffs horse show on the 26th April 2009
Ive decided to move up a class this season so our classes are now (all being well) always going to be the Young Rider at 2ft9-3ft ~its my last year =( then i will be to old! and the intermediate horse which is 3ft and 3ft3 ish in the jump off.
Well Flash is rather unfit at the moment thanks to me being only 3 weeks from my final year exams at Uni... very scary! so you will have to forgive me for Flash not being my priority right now.
I havent jumped Flash over anything at all since Sandwell show a few weeks back and did wonder if it was fair to take him at all TBH... but i decided to go anyway and just let him tell me when he had had enough. he didnt show any sign of being very tired at all so = )
Well the 2ft9 class went ok... the jump off turn back to the double was unfortunate... the entrance to the ring was just near the take off side and i think that long run back towards it made flash think he was finished so when i suddenly then turned away from it he was a bit like... "oh sorry i thought it was over mum" then proceeded to run away from the fence thinking i was angry... so that little dart away was all flash.. i rarely even touch him with the whip even if he tries to make you think thats what i did!
The 3ft class he was FLYING! in the first round... other than the double which our style was ground related due to all the stops and fall that had already happended there... he felt fantastic.. the best i can remember in many ways... taking long strides if he needed to and just generally jumping brilliantly.
The jump off started the same way... but again we got to the double and flash did his safety thing and slowed right down... making it a sort of one and a half strides in the middle! :P hence the random pop back out and me being a little all over the place! well because flash looks after me... once he thinks im a bit of balance he takes his own steady pace regardless of what im trying to get which resulted in rather unattractive possitions from me... some more for the next "thrills, spills and stickability "video maybe...
you will have to watch to find out our placings, but for an unfit boy who has only really been hacking in recent months i cant complain at all and im very very proud of my little man and his very honest careful nature.. will work on the mind reading so i can prepare for the giant leaps of faith like he did over the last fence!
Sandwell show again for us next week (3rd may) Flashy boy and also Cassie, who i continue riding until the perfect home is found.
have you gotten any better and love this and was it jumpers or no?
