  • emmyeemmyjojo- this is not a training video... meaning this is not a demonstration of skills used for teaching. this is a collection of random shots taken during a training. The students are learning. No one has ever been taught to rescue anyone by the head! These are not final practical pics of a finished product. MANY mistakes are made during training.... thats how we learn. Scouts learn by doing.... they learn by doing the wrong way just as much or more as the right way. Thanks!

  • yes, I drill that order in my students head as much as possibe... I hav come to learn that athough its nice for lifeguards to knw their limitatonsin the water... and some resistance can teach them that... all rescues are ot combative... as most people actually want to be saved.... I use both i my trainings.... and I always take down each student at least once... so they are wel aware of their limitations.

  • Thanks for the upload. I'm also a lifesaver, PNRC-batch 1983. I lost my photos but at least I can show these photos to my children for how it looks like to be a lifeguard. Lifeguards are heroes behind the scene.

  • thanks... there are a few other videos I made while training... with some good pics. I train LIfeguards fro Scouts so CHildren are the target audience as I hope that many will grow up to be lifesavers as well. Thanks for posting... the other videos are under my screen name Scoutingmrst camp wisdom.. Tracey

  • @3lyKyl3 it is very different, u have to learn like a thousand rescue attempts and escape methods

  • Please tell me these are NOT lifeguards? BEcause if they are, I wouldnt go near any pool where these senior citizens, especially obese ones, would be working.

  • I just got my lifesaving merit badge, how does that compare with BSA Lifeguard?

  • 1:39 thou 2:03 and many other points in this video is a big no-no.. never rescue by holding by the head neck area, always from under the arms.. not only does the first have the obvious of strangulation it is also holding the victim lower in the water than the correct method.

  • how much does an average lifeguard get paid ?

  • Reach, Row, Throw, Go with Assistance, Go... I still remember the BSA rescues. The Red Cross boys get off easy; they require assistance for all their rescues!! :) I took my BSA from a Marine gunner who made every rescue combative but we had a great time.

  • cheers for the luck thanks very much :p

and im traing for a company called lifesavers i think lol..... ive got 1 more day to go..... if i pass i tell ya lol
