King Tut's Treasures: The Canopic Shrine

( http://heritage-key.com/blogs/malcolmj/preserving-king-tuts-guts-canopic-shri... ) Dr Janice Kamrin takes us on a trip through the Egyptian Museum, Cairo and shows the spectacular Canopic Shrine - a golden and intricately decorated container flanked by four figures of gods. Inside this stunning shrine was the Canopic containers, which held the vital organs of the mummified body. Made from solid blocks of alabaster, the individual viscera containers were themselves protected inside gold coffinettes.

You will see things like the the mummy of Thutmose the 1st with coarse wooly hair in a 1930s published book by Sir W M Flinders Petrie (renowned Egyptologist of the day) . He's now bald. Or the coal black (always in art) grandmother of renowned Queen Hatshepsut.
