One mixer, three clear liquids, one teacher, three pupils. One show-stopping reaction that looks like magic!

Peter Tompkin from Maltings Academy shows his pupils one easy way to demonstrate chemical kinetics in action.

The variation on this experiment shown here is sometimes referred to as the old Nassau reaction, after the Princeton University halls which were home to the students who first carried it out as black and orange are the university colours. Its also sometimes called the Halloween reaction.
