Update: Please don't email me asking me for a serial number for Twixtor. Like I have them in my pocket like candy to pass out to you all. I don't..

I created this video because there were no real good tutorials out there that describe everything you need to do to convert a 60FPS video (GoPro) or (Canon 7D) to a working file on Final Cut Pro, compress it, comform it, and use the twixtor effect.

I literally had to watch like 4 separate videos on youtube and go to a few websites to actually figure this out. The other problem is that most tutorials are for AE (After Effects) which is good, but Final Cut Pro works well too. I think AE is good if you need to mask and do other stuff, but if you just want to do a simple slow motion video, then Twixtor and FCP is great. Especially if you use FCP to edit videos.

Here's the site to download the software from GoPro to compress the video clip into FCP. http://gopro.com/support/final-cut-pro-tips/

I also shot this at 60FPS and I needed to convert it, so will also teach you how to do that.

Finally, if you just have a regular video (non-GoPro) and shot it at a standard FPS, then this video will work just fine too.

  • okay, so I've followed your method for my videos but it hasn't worked, the frames aren't blending properly. I have a video of a snow ball being thrown at my camera but you can see it jumping to each frame as if they aren't blending properly. I am thinking it's because the snowball is going really close to my camera and it doesn't like it but I'm still really new to this Twixtor thing and I have the free version. Any ideas what it could be? Thanks

  • @Kizzwizzz It has nothing to do with the free version or because it's near the camera...

Think of a person falling from a cliff and slow that down as a test. That will work ok...now take the same idea of a personal falling from a cliff and he's flaring his arms around that would not be good Twixtor... Make sense? Less movements better Twixtor.. Slower the better.. You can't Twixtor a race car, just won't work.

GOod luck, send the finished product,

  • @xeazyex Post the video and I'll have a look.

  • THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

  • @Ollybru96 You're welcome, You're welcome, You're most welcome

  • How do I get the Twixtor-plugins and how do I install them?

  • @eirikman94 Look up Twixtor on Google, go to their website, pay their fee, follow instructions on how to install it, presto, you've got twixtor.

  • GREAT TUTORIAL! BEST ON YOUTUBE FOR FINAL CUT PRO! THANK YOU!

  • This is really great. Thank you. Easy and straightforward. One question: If I shoot a video in 1080p30, what is the best shutter speed to shoot? I know that usually it's double the frame rate, but in order to get smooth super slo-motion I heard that it's best to shoot with really high shutter speed. Do you know anything about it? Thank you
