One could only hope they could write songs like Billy Joe Shaver. I think the first time I meet Billy Joe he was a Sue Brewer house after a few of us had been out checking out the filtration system at George Jones place downtown. He played in Nashville a few years ago at 3rd and Linsey. I offered to pick him up and take him down so he could get a little more rest.. . . He did 3 or 4 radio initerview instead of resting. I think he had just fallen off his horse a couple days before in Texas.

One could only hope they could write songs as good as Billy Joe Shaver, if you ever get a chance to see him do it. I sent a friend of mine up to Santa Fe to see him and he didn't even like country music. Billy Joe made a new fan that night right along with the other 3 people who went up also. "I didn't know country music said so much about life".

Thanks for sharing this great example of the craft of songwriting. I agree with the previous post re: if there were more of this on the air, the commercial crap wouldn't stand a chance.
