Stateline NSW report on the closure of the Cowra - Demondrille branchline. Since this was put to air, the LVR's CPH railmotors, diesel locomotives and moveable rollingstock was all moved to Cootamundra and Junee on the Main Southern line. From the 1st of September, a stop block was added at Demondrille Junction and all staffs removed from the hut at Koorawatha.

  • I wish LVR a lot of luck in trying to get ownership of the line as the NSW GOV will probably not sell the line to them as they would think that the line is theirs whether it's open or not. No maintenance will be allowed without their permission. You can't even get people trained in safe working if there not with a rail operator already. The rail industry in NSW is almost a state within a state and is closed to all outsiders.

  • @faulcon1 Actually, it's well known that LVR now have the track leased, it's getting the Rail Safety regulator to change their accreditation to manage 150km of rail infrastructure.

  • was it shut down

  • The line has been 'suspended', however the LVR is fighting to reopen the line under its ownership and accreditation.

  • Shutting down railway lines is NSW Labor Government madness. We should be re-opening closed lines and building more. You can transport more by rail then a truck/s can even can. For crying out load, where are the Green's??? They of all people should be screaming for less trucks and more rail.

  • If they have the line leased that's good but are they allowed to do the maintenance on the line when it needs it or do they have to get permission from the relevant authority.

  • miserable NSW Labour Government what a bunch of wankers

  • i hope it doesnt get shut down
