How to get iPhone iPod Skype app in Canada

A quick tutorial showing you how to download Skype for your iPhone or iPod if you live in Canada. Skype app is not normally available in Canada due to patent issues.

Hi, awesome, thanks for sharing this info., i got a question, I live in Calgary and I can't make any phone call,I got a msg saying skype calls over 3G are not allowed, I have my 3G off in my iphone thanks once again

Hey. Skype calls are disabled over 3G you can only do it on a wifi connection. Also I noticed on some public wifi connections I cant make calls as well. Like at my collage but I think thats because they restrict internet access there. GOOO FLAMES!

Thanks for the info, however just have one question. If I sync my phone with the American account that has skype, will it not wipe all the apps previously installed? Similarly, when I try to reinstall them in my Canadian account, wont I lose skype because it isnt in the library? Not sure if I have this right or not but any info you might have would be greatly appreciated.

just sync it the first time then go to itunes and log on to your regular apple account then sync again. You will not lose your old apps and you will still have skype.

there is a waaaaay easier way to do that

just google "Skype-v1.0.1.ipa" then you'll manage someway to download it.

if you download it double click it then you'll find it in your apps list on iTunes. TA DA!!!

that wont work it will say its unverified. maybe it works if you have a jail broken iphone or ipod.

Great vid! I have a question (for anyone who's educated on this) I downloade Skype for my iphone, and I can't use it because my device is jailbroken. I get a message saying something like "Skype does not support modified devices". Any way to get around this?

I have iTunes v8.2.0.23 and I know v8.2.1 is out now. HOWEVER, on my PC, running VISTA, I got the email back from Apple asking me to verify my account by clicking on the link. I used Firefox, Internet Explorer, and finally Safari but none worked.  All got errors. Then I fired up my Mac and it worked flawlessly.
