This is a video that documents the unique challenges surrounding the women of Chanzou, Kenya. Water must be fetched 3 times/daily. This can sometimes consume the daylight hours of the women. CHANZOU is working with CHOICE Humanitarian to develop a community water system that will free up these women to be more effective mothers, to be more engaged in the community development process, to give them more of a voice, and to empower them to help their families overcome some of the inherent problems associated with third world poverty.
CHOICE is led in Kenya by Dr. Rita Lugogo and a staff of competent, local, indigenous staff that understand these unique challenges and work tirelessly to help villagers seek and find real solutions to community problems.
Chanzou is part of a regional effort in Samburu to address some of the needs of these people. CHOICE believes in strengthening leadership and funds simple sustainable projects to teach this valuable asset. Leadership development leads to a 'self developing' village...a village that can eventually prosper on their own without CHOICE funding.
