As far as i know, Walpurgis was the original war pigs
Lyrics:

Witches gather at black masses
Bodies burning in red ashes
On the hill the church in ruin.
Is the scene of evil doings
It's a place for all bad sinners
Watch them eating dead rats' innards.
I guess it's the same, where ever you may go
Oh lord yeah

Carry banners which denounce the lord
See me rocking in my grave
See them anoint my head with dead rat's blood
See them stick the stake through me
Oh

Don't hold me back cause I just gotta go
They've got a hold of my soul now
Lords got my brain instinct with blood obscene
Look in my eyes I'm there enough
Yeah

On the scene a priest appears
Sinners falling at his knees
Satan sends out funeral pyre
Casts the priest into the fire
It's the place for all bad sinners.
Watch them eating dead rats' innards
I guess it's the same, where ever you may go
Oh lord yeah

Regarding why they changed lyrics and title:

I heard that their manager/producers/label convinced them to make a politically charged song to sell more albums. So they changed witches to generals and drew comparisons between the two as anti-Vietnam war lyrics, even though it seems like the band was politically neutral and just wanted to rock.

Please correct me if I am wrong, this is just what I heard.

I dont thats it actually, not quite

Ozzy prefered these lyrics, but Butler wrote the war pigs lyrics inspired by the stories theyd heard about the vietnam war... Yes the label wanted different lyrics, so they could move away from their associations with satanism and the occult, but they werent the ones who actually decided what it would be instead. (i think haha) Hope this helped

BTW ozzy went on to use these lyrics at the live shows as opposed to the war pigs lyrics

FUCK Warner Bros.! The lyrics here beat the 'War Pigs' we all know! Warner Bros. got a bug up their ass, and made Sabbath rewrite it! It's the main reason I said fuck Time-Warner and went with DishNetwork!

Honnestly are people deaf? The instrumental to this is definatly different, theres no Trill after the first run in the verse for one thing...

I'm pretty sure it was their producers that made them change it not them because I know they didn't care what people thought but the record company wanted to make more money so they made a song protesting the Vietnam war, and even most of the other songs in the album paranoid protested the war...

They really didn't give two fucks about the good. They just wanted to make as many album sales as possible. You have some reading to do.
