We walked down the stairs, our hands still linked together as one. Once again Joe saw us and instantly became upset. I didn't understand what was wrong with him. There's no way he has feelings for me. I was thinking about all of this when someone came up behind me and poked me in the side. I screamed because I didn't really know what was going on at the moment. I turned around to find Nick and Joe laughing their heads off. I wasn't sure which one of them poked me but just by watching them laugh, I too started laughing. I was clutching my stomach because it hurt so bad. Once we finally quit laughing we got in the car and headed to Baskin Robins. I sat in the back between Nick and Joe. Nick and I were talking about what we wanted to do tonight while Kevin drove and Joe stared out the window. We arrived at Baskin Robins about 5 minutes later. As Kevin and Nick walked inside I stopped Joe outside so we could talk. "What's up?" He said, staring down at the ground. "How come you have been acting so weird lately?" "Me? Weird? Nah." "Joe...I saw the way you looked at Kevin and me. You didn't exactly look happy." "Of course I wasn't happy. Kevin doesn't deserve you." "Are you guys coming!? "We'll be there in a minute!" I shouted back at Nick. "Why doesn't he deserve me? Am I not good enough for him or something?" "No, that's not it. You're the exact opposite. You're way too good for him. You deserve someone better that's all I'm saying." "I don't understand." "Let's keep it that way, shall we?" Joe said heading towards the door. "What a jerk." I said underneath my breath. I walked after Joe. He didn't even bother to hold the door open for me. Nick saw what Joe did and quickly ran to the door and opened it for me. I stepped inside, thanking Nick with a hug. I couldn't decided between watermelon and rocky road ice cream. I chose watermelon considering Kevin got rocky road and I figured I could just steal some of his if I wanted any. "Shoot. I forgot my money on my bed." I said, still searching through my pockets. "Don't worry. I got it." Nick said, pulling out his wallet, giving me one of his dreamy smiles that made almost every girls heart skip a beat, including mine. We sat down at a table and ate our ice cream. I sat next to Joe, but right when I sat down he stood up and walked outside. "What's up with him?" Kevin managed to mumble through a mouthful of rocky road. "I really don't know." I said, feeling as though I wanted to cry again. "Don't worry about him. He's been in a weird mood lately." Nick said, scooting closer to me. "I don't understand what I did though." "He's just being stupid and jealous. I'm telling you, don't worry about it." Nick said while putting his arm around me and squeezing my arm. "Geez Nick. You sure have been all over Josie lately." Kevin teased. "I have not." Nick argued, pulling his arm away, scratching his head. "Sure you haven't little bro." Kevin said while standing up and throwing his ice cream away. "Uhh...what do you want to do now?" Nick questioned seeming really nervous. "Let's go back to our house and watch a movie!" I said, trying not to laugh at Nick. "Sure. Yeah. That sounds like fun." We stood up and went back to the car. Kevin was talking to Joe, trying to get him into the car. He was like a stubborn puppy. Nick and I sat in complete silence in the back seat of Kevin's jeep. "Is something bothering you?" I asked Nick. "No. Why do you ask?" "You seem really nervous all of a sudden. It's just...not you." "Oh. There's sort of something I need to tell you." Nick said, acting as calm as he could. "What is it Nick? You can tell me anything." I said, placing my hand on his knee. "I think...I think I l..." Joe jumped in the passenger seat of the car and slammed the door. I pulled my hand away from Nick and looked at him with a look on my face that said I was sorry. Nick just smiled and shook his head. Kevin got in the car and started driving. "Where are we going now?" Kevin asked looking at me in the rearview mirror. "Nick and I thought we could go back to our house and watch a movie." I said looking at Joe. "That sounds good. What movie?" "Dumb and Dumber!" Nick and I shouted at the same time. We both started laughing but quickly stopped when we noticed the looks on Kevin and Joe's faces. "I should have known it would be something stupid." Joe said. "Joe! That's your favorite movie!" I said. "Ok. We're here." Kevin said, stopping the car on the street in front of my house. We all got out of the car and walked towards the door. Nick stopped me in the grass. "Can we finish our conversation we started before?" He asked. "Yeah. Sure." I said handing Kevin the key to the house. "Well. I think...I have feelings for you. I want to be more than friends..."
