i grew up in houston, texas in the 70's and 80's and my mother and father were good friends with rusty. i have pictures of myself and my little sister sitting out in the back of gilley's in pasadena with rusty. my sister and i were just listening to black hat saloon and talking about back then. my only regret is that i hadn't seen him since i was a kid and one too many times i put off going to a show. if i am not mistaken my mother saw him before she died.

He didn't write it but he sang it from the heart....I fell in love to this song in the 70's. Unfortunately, the love died just like the singer. I miss you Rusty.

I believe Stevie Nicks wrote this song. Her version is beautiful. And Rusty made it his too. There will never be another one like Rusty Wier.
