Volume One of the "CSXT Fitzgerald Subdivision" series covers the time period of November 2000 through November 2001. CSXT's Lineville Subdivision mainline from Birmingham, Alabama, and Manchester Subdivision mainline from Atlanta, Georgia, converge in the small town of Manchester, in western Georgia, to form one of the busiest single-track mainlines on its entire system, the Fitzgerald Subdivision! CSXTs Fitzgerald Subdivision makes a southeasterly trek from Manchester approximately 200 miles to the massive Rice Yard in Waycross, Georgia. The CTC-controlled single track mainline sees in excess of 50 trains per day, hosting everything from long, heavy, manifests and coal drags to some of the "hottest" intermodal traffic on the railroad. The ex-Seaboard System (nee ACL) line is a critical link for the railroad's customers in the midwest and Florida with several trains traversing its rails daily carrying expedited automotive traffic and coal destined for any number of southeastern power plants.

In this video we will visit many locations between Manchester and Waycross, such as Woodland, Big Lazar Creek, Junction City, Brownsand, Mauk, Charing, Ideal, Oglethorpe, Montezuma, Byromville, Lilly, Dooly Campgrounds, Vienna, and Ross. We begin our adventure on a cold November 2000 afternoon by capturing southbound loaded grain train G506 just north of Vienna with ex-Conrail C36-7 #7125 leading LRCX SF30C #9518 and CSXT C30-7 #7072 and end our journey on a clear afternoon in November 2001 by shooting northbound manifest Q682 near Montezuma with an attractive duo of SD40-2s, FURX #3031 and Burlington Northern #8020!

Without a doubt, the Fitzgerald Subdivision is one of the best lines to railfan in the entire southeastern United States! The railroad is usually very fluid and very fast making it a true railfanning haven! A very diverse group of motive power is seen on the video including many former Conrail locomotives, colorful CEFX, FURX, GCFX, and HLCX lease engines, and foreign road power from BNSF, SP, UP, Wisconsin Central, and CP Rail! Sit back, relax, and come along for the ride as we visit the very busy CSXT Fitzgerald Subdivision!
