The brain is the focus of this fascinating portion of our journey as Dr. Sagan examines another of the intelligent creatures with whom we share the planet Earth — whales.

Then we wind through the maze of the human brain to witness the architecture of thought. We see how genes, brains and books store the information necessary for human survival.

  • if only i'd watched his series before attending University... would've given me more inspiration and thirst for knowledge, thus justifying the high tuition & time costs.

i'd definitely show Cosmos to my future kids.

  • I really like seeing Carl in NYC. He shows very well how much he liked his hometown. Much like when he visited his old neighborhod in Brooklyn in another episode.

  • I do wish Carl could've kept his hands still. He uses that default kind of hands waving around.

  • @karkovice10 That 10% of your brain idea is wrong, we use all of our brain. But who knows what the mammilian brain will become or not in a few million years.

  • What is the piece of music at 5:02? I know it is something by Vangelis.

  • I want to travel via pneumatic tubes...

  • Our passion for learning is a tool for our survival.

  • i have a passion for learning :) 3:34

  • I certainly hope that electric cars will become as commonplace and as affordable as gasoline cars are today. The electric hybrids that are on the market are so friggin EXPENSIVE! :p

  • If what Dr. Sagan says is true, regarding the many billions of bits of information already stored in our brains, it's amazing that we still have the capacity to remember and learn new things! Many even suggest that we are only using a tiny percent of our brain! If could use the entire 100%, just imagine what we could be capable of doing!

Telepathy, telekinesis, reading other people's thoughts and emotions immediately come to mind! :)

  • Thumbs up for electric cars at 9.29 :D

  • @pigu0606 Same here, Cosmos is truly inspirational.

It vitalised my passion for my sciences course, exams are coming up, it's not the effort that matters, it is the final result that counts.
