These residents are being targeted individually by their landlord in an attempt to evict them form their rent controlled/stabilized apartments and flip them market rate.
East Harlem (El Barrio) ,is safer, cleaner, and more desirable a living location than it has been in decades. Unfortunately this has caught the eye of Real Estate developers, who have long tried capitalize on El Barrio's low property values and proximity to high income areas such as "Yorkville".
This is part of a larger documentary on gentrification I am completing on gentrification in NYC in the fall.
It's a shame...

I know...I used to live one 215 East 116 street between 2nd and 3rd and the landlord never fixed anything in the house. It was horrid. We could never use the bathroom for so many years except for the toiled which you need a bucket of water to flush the toiled. I moved from their since 1988 I believed. I heard the buyers made the building into a condomedium.

wait... I'm slightly confused...how is this a response to Ron Pauls video? Are you showing what he would change/fix or are you claiming that he is the cause of this or would make this worse? Help me out to understand you.
