"Arugan!" is a basic, old FM95 game made back in 1999, and was a Silver Medal winner in the Internet Game Contest of August 1999. It features six large characters with a variety of attacks, who each have their own stage and a very simple "Congratulations" screen for endings (think Virtua Fighter). There are no credits. The game has three attack buttons and a basic combo system for the most part. The characters are fairly original with the exception of the variant of the main character, Alumi, who fights kind of like Kyo from SNK's "King of Fighters" series. I can't say much about it other than it has midi style music, you gain special stock from being hit / blocking and standing (not attacking), and that it's just weird. You can get this game at:

This is a video of the game in action. Enjoy.

  • Gigantic sprites!!

  • Looks like a janky mess.

    Way too many afterimages too.

  • @Ebb1993isgreat Oh, and where can I get these sprites? They look so cool.

  • Why is it that the first opponent you fight explodes or vanishes upon defeat instead of getting knocked out?

  • I like fighters with big sprites...
