A drivers eye view of the DLR from Beckton to just east of Limehouse, on the 16:10 departure to destination Tower Gateway. We take in many views either side of the line of major places en route, as well as the forward view. These include Beckton DLR Depot, London City Airport, University Buildings, The ExCel Centre, Canning Town Bus Station, Jubilee Line Portal, Canary Wharf complex, including the DLR station of that name's roof, and West India Quay station; as well as the O2 (The Dome). The Jubilee line route between Canning Town and Canary Wharf can easily be traced from the overground DLR route. Many features of the DLR operation are also visible, including track layouts, junctions, etc, and train operation, as well as station layouts. Note the train very closely behind the one at Cyprus - the front is branded as 'Special', and is being driven manually, it also sounds its horn as we pass it. This could be an 'Empty to Depot' train, but not sure. We pass over the Greenwich Meridian Time Zone line, so from the East Half of the planet to the West Half of the planet; just before 'East India' station - look out for the Lineside sign.
Enjoyed that. Did the journey myself quite a few times. Those DLR trains didn't half shift!
