I was loading boards into my Excursion when I noticed Rotor Clouds forming over my house. In spite of the winds on the ground gusting to over 25 kts, I decided to send up my Radian R/C Motor-Glider with a video camera.
I attached a long streamer to the tail of the glider for stability, visibility and drag. The Glider would have been lost without it. I was unable to enter the clouds due to turbulence, and visibility issues. The clouds were approximately 2,000 ft agl, I am guessing.
The flight was much more challenging than the video would seem to indicate, mostly because the VnE of the radian was not sufficient to safely dive away from the very strong, very turbulent lift encountered. There were several
points in the flight where I thought the plane might be lost.
But it is not obvious from the video.
Enjoy.
wow great job!!!

Nice piloting, and great catch at the end! Looks like it was a handful up there...what's the deal with rotor clouds, signs of potentially good lift? I've read up on them a bit, and they seem like danger zones for a foam glider
