I recall seeing this interview when it was first televised on PBS. One thing that struck me then, and has done so since the more I read about Heller, was that he seemed to be both an interesting mind and a nice guy. Which seems to be kinda rare among major novelists -- I highly recommend the new Heller bio:) -

Nice to have something nutritious, so to speak, in today's fast food for thought market.

Great writer. I've read Catch-22, Good as Gold, and Something Happened. Something Happened is majorly, majorly depressing, but they're all great. Anybody out there read the sequel to Catch-22? I think it's called Closing Time, about Yossarian later on in life. I thought it sounded like a bad idea (aren't sequels always bad ideas?), but I'm curious. Is it worth it?

The illusion of choice...This is what George Carlin was talking about.

@Gettinghitonattheban Yes. The world of human beings is. Perhaps the earth will survive our viral effect after we all are wiped out.
