Love the restraint in Medtner's playing. Same golden sound and phrasing as Rachmaninoff, but much more Classical and balanced. It's no wonder that Rachmaninoff was bowled over by him.
this is such an amazing concerto. The secondary theme in this movement is soooooooooooo beautiful, one of my favourite melodies, I can't stop singing it!
Medtner was an extraordinary pianist and his rendition of his third piano concerto is also better than Tozer's. By the way, the third concerto (not yet on Youtube) is darker and more Rachmaninov like. It is definitely my favorite !

@floriannoack Scherbakov did record Medtner's Second Concerto, it's on a disc with the Piano Quintet.
