http://www.literacycentral.bc.ca. This video highlights the work of Hazelton, B.C.'s Storytellers Foundation and their storefront 'Learning Shop' in recognizing the value of informal learning, like growing food, to connecting community members socially, culturally and economically. Supporting their efforts is Mayor Alice Maitland, who recognizes literacy as essential for building community members who do not rely on expertise from 'away' but are ready to be trained and to contribute to their community. 2010 Legacies Now, the first legacy organization to be in place years before the Olympic and Paralympic Games began to create tangible social legacies throughout British Columbia, created this video and is committed to literacy and lifelong learning. http://www.2010LegaciesNow.com.
