Cuba is awsome, I only hope that in the future it will not become americanized if the embargo is taken off. I hope it doesn't become another Cancun-like spring break destination.

ever been to US backed colombia, US backed honduras/paraguay - thats poverty, agreed to and enforeced by US backed spineless governments.

Cuba's poverty is the result of its stand against the US. It's poverty is its punishment for its temerity to have a voice, a conscience and a will to do and act as it sovereignly feels fit.

sorry, but the reason the state of cuba is in such a desperate conditon is due to the 40+ years of economic sanctions and blockades put upon it - which has been excacerbated since 1992 and the fall of the soviet block.

Those poor people you see there are the result of the US, and it foreign policy, as seen in iraq, vietnam and so on and so forth in the US's depressing midas touch of bullying imperialism.

Cuba..If it is so wonderful why are the people prisoners??? Guaranteed base survival with no hope is not my idea paradise. And now the food stamps will not even buy meat? Beans and rice day in and day out! Viva la free markets where a man has opportunity. No one breaks loose and flees to Cuba. No they die weekly to attempt to reach the USA, the worlds "Promise Land!" Sat Cong!
