  • if welles was a one-hit wonder, and his only hit was citizen kane, he would still tower above 99% of all directors. since this isn't the case (see--magnificent ambersons; touch of evil; othello; chimes at midnight; reed's third man; lady from shanghai and many other contributions to other art forms too numerous to enumerate) you, sir, are sorely ignorant of this "cinema god" and need remedial classes before posting on youtube.

  • First of all he was not a one hit wonder! Yes he died a few hours after a talk show.Might havve been Dick Cavett. he was not a one time hit and if yoy do a little reseach like him doig Lear live on early tv.

  • @marksixtyone Merv confirmed it on Tom Snyder Orson had died hours after the show, plus I imagine IMBD could get the correct date of the show, and it would coincide with his death

  • Touch of Evil=Awesome.

  • I love Merv's Jack Benny schtick at the beginning. Bless Orson. Touched by genius.

  • they both stopped putting cards at the moment when he said "you stop". but did the young lady split the cards evenly half and half or did she split randomly?

  • Supposedly he died two hours after the taping of this program...according to wikipedia.

  • supposedly, welles was very picky about questions he wouldnt answer (ie his weight, failures etc.) and said to merv before the show that nothing was off limits for this interview. the interview went on, and welles went on to his maker later that night.

  • @djcalvados He's Orson Welles, the guy who made and starred in Citizen Kane, which is often called the greatest movie of all time.

  • i dont no shit about this guy but he seems like a good storyteller to me, hes an director or something?? =d

  • What year was this?

  • After Kane - he seemed to leave brilliant sketches - he had a unique eye - i felt he was the most stimulating director in the way he showed the audience to see....a true unique master.

I miss him....and btw just imagine what he would have done with todays camcorder!
