While many race fans relish over the flashy factory race bikes, teams, and gear, it's easy to overlook the working class hero, the person who makes up the backbone of Supercross and motocross racing... The privateer. Southern California native, Scott Champion, is just that person. Financially funding his own racing career, if Champion doesn't do well one weekend, it could potentially mean not enough funds to make it to the following race. We decided to spend a few days with Champion to see what it's like for a privateer as they prepare for the biggest Supercross race of the season... Anaheim 1.

  • I got lots of respect for Privateers

  • You got Erin Normoyle............ You ARE a Champion

  • Keep it up Scott, privateers are what make motor racing exciting, like the Dakar Rally the privateers are the true hero's, they have to go through hardships factory riders don't.

  • Top Privatter AMA SX 2012 = JEAN RAMOS

  • Its guys like this that make the sport what it is! Go scott!

  • dear scott,

you are my hero man. Their are a lot of riders out there that can ride bikes well, but this where the roots of the sport lie and are always going to. it might not always be easy, but that just means its something worth doing. you have my deepest respect and admiration #67.

best of luck dude your an A in my book.

your biggest fan. ps mad style points last night in sd. my favorite to watch of the night by far man keep it up

  • I see here a guy that has the guts and determination to follow his dream no matter how hard it is. I wish him the very best, he deserves a ride with a good team. Unlike the ones who have everything handed to them,

  • It's nice to see some kids coming into here with out full support from teams , it teaches them to be thankfull when they get a sponser . Go S.C.

  • go scott i have been yelling out the top of my lungs at all the supercross. go 67.
