What a deal. The US Gov sends troops to die and fight a limited war which they could have won in 6 weeks, while at the same time allowing US Companies to sell the material to the Soviet Union to make the weapons like this to rain down hell on our troops. May the politicians and government leaders especially McNamara, Johnson and NIxon all rot in hell for allowing this to go on. God bless the poor soulsnwho had to do their bidding.

@dzevi01You do not know what was "Land reform" and "collectivization".The negative side of those experience was knowing early,that's why every one think that communist go in right way now and supports them.

@50poiuyt : I looked at several sources in Wikipedia: Lam Thanh Liem, Bernard Fall, Nguyen Minh Can, Hoang Van Chi. They ALL say that tens and maybe hundreds of thousands were killed during "land reform". Normally, land reform happens when land belongs to a few rich estates, which are then mostly split up amongst the people. In Vietnam the communists took land AWAY from the people! Typical of communism.. And now, of course, you can have free elections and change the government, right?

@50poiuyt ...when he said in 1956 :If election happened,80% of Vietnamese will support Ho Chi Minh.Vietnamese believed in communists and considered you to be aggressors ,that's why they fought hard and you could not win to them.They are right.

@dzevi01 the numbers that you written,are numbers for anti-communist propaganda in USA only.The media made monsters of communists,and you Americans believe in their propaganda,how one Viet Vet said in Vietnam TV.You can read other source,for example Wikipedia to see,how true is.Only 1-2% of this number ,but Vietnamese forgave them for their selfsacrifice in the fight for independent of Vietnam.Thousands of them were killed by French .The confidence of Vietnamese in the communists knew Eisenhower

@50poiuyt : Any "land reform" that lasts for a number of years and results in some 200,000 people murdered and 40,000 put in concentration camps, can hardly be called a "mistake". Nobody can be considered great leader who does that to his own people. Of course, his "role model", Josif Vissarionovich Dzhugashvili, a.k.a. Stalin, rose to a much higher "greatness" - he managed to murder more than 20,000,000 of his own people.
