Stutz Blackhawk 1973

Stutz est une marque automobile Américaine qui a été fondée en 1912 par Harry C. Stutz et qui a produit des voitures jusqu'en 1935. En aout 1968, un financier New Yorkais, James O'Donnell, ressuscite la marque, il confie le design d'un projet de voiture néo rétro à Virgil Exner, un styliste réputé du Groupe Chrysler. Un prototype réalisé par Ghia et donc présenté en 1970 à l'Hôtel Waldorf Astoria de New York. C'est le début de l'histoire de la Stutz Blackhawk qui sera produite de 1972 à 1987.

La Stutz Blackhawk est une voiture très spéciale : c'était la voiture la plus chère du monde en son temps ! Elle coûtait 43 000 $ en 1973, pour comparer, une Cadillac Eldorado 1973 très luxueuse coûtait environ 8 000 $. En quinze ans de production, la Stutz Blackhawk a été construite à 617 exemplaires seulement, tout modèles confondus.

Le prix de la Stutz Blackhawk était très élevé car elle était totalement exclusive et très luxueuse pour son époque : sellerie cuir, climatisation, siège et vitre électrique, placage de bois précieux, métaux intérieurs en plaqué or ... La Stutz Blackhawk était assemblé à la main à Turin en Italie sur un châssis de Pontiac Grand Prix, elle était motorisé par un V8 General Motors de 7,5 litres de cylindrée préparé à 425 chevaux.

Le prix astronomique de la Stutz Blackhawk la réservait à une clientèle plus que fortunée, parmi les propriétaires célèbres, on citera Elvis Presley, qui en possédait quatre, Elton John, Paul McCartney, Al Pacino, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Junior, Dean Martin, Jerry Lewis, Billy Joel, Mohammed Ali, Isaac Hayes, Wayne Newton, Curd Jürgens, le Shah d'Iran qui en possède douze, le Roi Fahd d'Arabie Saoudite, le Roi Hussein du Maroc.

I could be wrong, but I dont think that is a 1973.

it has 2 exhausts coming out of the front side fenders, and the taillights are for sure not from 1973. maybe newer tailers were installed?

either way, very sexy car, in great shape !
