Because, Funandconsciousness, the crappy easily accessible songs have strong publicity machines. Shawn never got enough airplay or exposure.

Shawn Phillips is a phenomenal artist, musician with a clear crisp voice and range. Had all his albums years ago. Loved him then and still love him now. Haven't been able to track down Bright White yet.

So how is it that incredibly crappy songs have YouTube play counts in the millions, and this absolute genius song that has been around since 1974 has just 1,237 views? This does not compute at all.
